1. License server requirements.
We recommend the license server meet basic workstation requirements regarding core and RAM components listed here: System Requirements. The license server should have internet access and port 5093 (UDP) open.
If the new license server is a virtual machine, disable VM migration. It can cause the machine ID to change and licenses to disappear.
2. Install Sentinel RMS:
Sentinel RMS License Manager must be installed on any computer operating as a License Server. Sentinel RMS is a Windows service that allows LAW workstations to communicate with the license server.
Download Sentinel Licensing Installers below:
Official CloudNine™ Software Download Center
For information on the installation wizard, please visit our Answer Center:
Sentinel Install Shield Wizard
3. Install LAW
The Sentinel RMS License Manager application is used to activate and manage LAW licenses. It is installed with the LAW application. We recommend installing the same version of LAW in use on workstations on the license server. Please visit our Answer Center for more information about Sentinel RMS License Manager: License Manager
4. Deactivate license keys(s) on existing server.
If you don’t have a listing of your existing LAW license key(s), open License Manager, and connect to the existing license server.
- Access the Activations window and take a screen shot.
- Next, select each key in turn and de-activate it. This process will communicate with our licensing system over the internet and disassociate the key with the existing license server.
- Contact LAW Support if the existing license server does not have internet access or you receive an error message.
5. Activate key(s) on the new server.
Open Sentinel RMS License Manager and connect to the new license server. Access the Activations window and enter each key in the top section in turn and select Activate. This will communicate with our licensing system over the internet and authenticate the key with the new license server. Contact LAW Support if the new license server does not have internet access or you receive an error message.
6. Open the LAW Configuration Utility on each LAW workstation and enter the new license server on the license tab. Assure that the connection is successful. For more information about the LAW Configuration Utility, please visit our Answer Center: LAW Configuration Utility
