CloudNine Review: On-Image Search Hit Highlights

Does CloudNine Review provide support for on-image search hit highlights?

On-image hit highlights are available when you generate images using CloudNine Review's Image On The Fly feature. When a search is performed, search hits are highlighted in the  Image, Text, and HTML document states.

Image Toolbar

The Image Toolbar displays Search Hits, Page Counts, and Image Tools options.

ImageToolbar-1

(1) Highlight All: The Highlight All button appears when an image document exceeds 50 pages. By design, on-image hit highlights are only applied to the first 50 pages of the imaged documents. When the Highlight All button is clicked, all search hits on the image are highlighted.

(2) Hits: n/N: Current hit and total number of hits found in the image document state.

(3) Hits Conflict Message: This appears when the Image and Text search hit counts do not match. More complex searches may result in hit conflicts between text highlights and image highlights. Additionally, for performance purposes, image hit highlights are only applied to the first 50 pages of a document image. For larger documents, the discrepency is reported and the Highlight All option appears.  If you hover over the message indicator, it displays the Hits Conflict message, which shows the number of search hits found in the Text versus Image hits.

(4) <Prev | Next>: Navigate the hit highlights on the image. Select <Prev to move to a highlighted search hit before the selected hit and Next> to move to the next search hit.

(5) Page n of N:  The active page and total page count of a document image.

(6) Image Tools: Tools available for viewing (Manipulation), marking up (Annotations/Redaction), and Visibility.  Under Visibility, you can Toggle search highlights on and off.

    ❗Important Notes about Image Highlights

    • Image files must be searchable PDF.
    • A corresponding Text file must exist.
    • In the Advanced Search builder, if a Full Text search includes Stemming, Synonym, and Fuzzy-Fuzziness options, on-image hit highlights do not appear.
    • Image highlights fail on certain search operators, specifically:
      • PRE/n
      • ? - Used as a single character wildcard, such as Sea?ch.
      • % - Fuzzy search, replacing character(s) within the term, for example:
        • ba%nana: word begins with ba and has at most one difference between it and banana.
        • b%%nana: Word begins with ba and has at most two differences between it and banana.
    • If a document contains more than 50 pages, only hits on the first 50 pages are returned, and a prompt to Highlight All appears to highlight all hits regardless of the page count.
